Actually, spring has been here for quite a while here in my part of Texas. The weather has been in the upper 70s/lower 80s during the day, and in the upper 50s/lower 60s at night - perfect!
And the bluebonnets are out! Texas bluebonnets - a wildflower - are my absolute all-time favorite flower. I love seeing them all along the highways and in fields when I drive into town.
Unfortunately, the mild winter and early spring have caused the bugs to be out in ridiculous numbers. I've already received several mosquito bites and we're fighting flying bugs in the house, too.
DH was attending a continuing education seminar this weekend, so no work was done on the HVAC. If the temperatures keep creeping up, we may have to stick the window AC units back in the windows for awhile as DH thinks it will be several more weeks before he has the HVAC up and running. Boo hiss to the window units. However, they will keep us cool, so I guess I can't complain about them too much.
I've been stitching a lot on "Harana" and enjoying it. I've started stitching on the head of "flower guy" and I've stitched his ear. I am still trying to run down the floss numbers for the two "extra" symbols; I'm stitching around them for now. I've got one more week of stitching on it before I put it down to stitch the April square for "Crabby All Year."

The weather cooperated last week and DH and his work friend were able to hoist the HVAC unit up into the attic one evening after work. DH spent Saturday up in the attic connecting things together. He went into town to pick up some supplies at Lowe's, but they didn't carry them. He will have to get them at an HVAC supplier that is only open on the weekdays. So work came to a halt and this made him grumpy. I sent him out to his shop to make more drawers for his workbench.
Starting Sunday night, we got over four inches of rain in less than 12 hours. And the power went out for about four hours which stressed our wonderful aerobic septic system. Nothing like sitting in the dark while hoping the toilet will flush. ;-) It has been absolutely soppy wet outside. Thankfully, the sun is finally out and things are drying off.
I've been stitching on my BAP and enjoying it. Well I was until I discovered two symbols on the first page that are NOT on the floss key. And of course, there is no contact information listed anywhere on the pattern for the designer. I've e-mailed the company I bought the pattern from to see if they can get it. If they can't, well, Google is my friend.
Yesterday I sat down to stitch and managed to knock over a full glass of water all over my fabric and into four compartments of my floss caddy. Twelve bobbins of floss were totally soaked. So I chucked them, not wanting to try to dry them out. I was in the mood to stitch but couldn't on wet fabric so I sat down with my patterns and fondled, resisting the urge to work on the April block of "Crabby All Year."
As my fabric is finally dry, I will stitch this afternoon and post a progress picture on Saturday. I hope all is dry in your world!

I spent last week doing spring cleaning, which left me worn and tired by the end of the day. This past weekend it rained over three inches. DH was unable to work on the HVAC. He had scheduled a work buddy to come out and help him hoist the inside unit up into the attic, but it was too wet and rainy. This did not make DH happy, so I sent him out to his shop where he made drawers for his work bench. It was an exceedingly rainy, gloomy weekend.
I spent some time stitching on my BAP. I am enjoying stitching on it. I have stitched about a third of the first of 20 pages. It's on 16 count Aida with DMC. This is the upper left corner.
The rain has stopped - although it's been cloudy and gloomy for most of the week - and the yard is mostly dry enough for DH and his friend to walk around on, so they're planning on getting the HVAC unit up in the attic tonight after work. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the "possible scattered evening thunderstorms" don't happen while they do it!

I sat down Sunday afternoon and stitched a third Texas Christmas ornament. It called for stitches for the Christmas lights, but I substituted beads. I think the beads look more like lights.
After I finished it, I started a BAP. Remember the colorful pattern that I liked here? Well I just couldn't stand it and had to start it. I'm stitching it on 16 count Aida. The pattern called for light blue Aida. I was going to use the white Aida that I already had until I realized that the pattern uses a lot of white floss. Stitching with white floss on white fabric makes me go blind, so I spent some bucks on 16 count "Sea Spray" Aida from Wichelt.
So far, it is fun. Just as I thought, the pattern is mostly big blocks of color with very little confetti stitching. Which is good as confetti stitching makes me crazier than stitching white on white.

DH and I went to Austin yesterday. He dropped me off at the I35 Stitchtogether and went to Cabela's to get a new string strung on his bow.
It was a good day at the stitchtogether. We had a lot of folks there (but were missing Mel, Marilyn, and Gloria!) and had a lot of fun stitching, eating, and laughing. I stitched my usual three stars on the "that durn flag." I could probably stitch more stars if I wasn't so busy talking and laughing. After the stitchtogether, DH took me by Ginger's, the local LNS. I had fun looking at everything, but only bought some Anchor floss and a piece of linen for a future project.
I finished the March block of "Crabby All Year," and will now stitch a Texas-themed Christmas ornament before diving into a BAP.
DH is out mowing the inside yard again. The weeds are very prolific this year!
