An Emma report

Emma is better today. Most of the swelling in her face and neck is gone. The little stinker decided that she would not take her cheese-covered pills this morning. I think it's mainly because she is not really hungry right now. She gets a Greenie as a treat every morning and gobbles it down. This morning she carried it around for about half an hour before she finally ate it very slowly. She's drinking fine, but not eating much.
Anyway, I had to get the pills in her so we ended up doing the "trap the dog between the knees, cram the pills down her throat, and make her swallow" maneuver. I didn't like having to wrestle her mouth open with her having a sore snout, but what else could I do? Telling her that taking the pills would make her feel better did nothing. Peanut butter on the pills did nothing. She is a cheese-hound and even with lots of cheese she would have nothing to do with those dratted pills. So I had to be a meanie.
Then I gave her a bath as we'll be traveling this evening and she had gone way past whiffy-smelling to being a down right stinky dog. She hates getting a bath but likes being clean. She loves curling up on a clean bed. And she always watches carefully as I put her toys in the washer. Then she watches when I put them in the dryer. She could care less about laundry unless her toys are being washed.
After her bath, we played with the tennis ball and then had a nice brushing. Then it was time for a nap.
After I get the last bit of packing done for our trip, I plan to stitch. I'm really enjoying stitching on "The Alamo" and definitely have my stitching mojo back.
Next weekend, I'm looking forward to the IH35 Stitchtogether (where hopefully we'll see Cindy!). DH will be able to get the rest of his hunting man toys from Cabela's; he bought so much last month that it wouldn't all fit in the Jetta.

Thanks for the update. I've been thinking about her. She is such a cute dog.

I'm quite familiar with the trap the animal between your knees, but in my case it is the feline version. Saying it is "difficult" would make me the queen of under-statements. This weekend I'll have to do the "shove a cat under your arm and clip the claws" which is also a bit difficult. They emptied their food bowl during the night and I woke to many hungry cats with many many sharp claws. Rick said we may have to start setting the alarm for a wee hour and feeding them. I suggested that, perhaps, a larger bowl would suffice.

Bless Emma's sweet little heart. I've been worrying about her too! Wonder what in the world got her?? Doesn't sound like a scorpion. Lizzie was stung by one last year and lay paralized for an hour. But this sounds like a snake for sure! I laughed when I read you tried telling her the pills would make her feel better:) Lizzie is now on thyroid pills and I go through begging daily! She would bite the crap out of us if we held her!! (((HUGS))) to Emma:)
and YES....I'm planning on coming to the I35 stitching get-together!
Can't wait:)

The stuff we do for our kids aka pets...lol. Shilo is on predisone right now for allergy and cheese is his FAVE snack. So far, he hasn't caught me sneaking a pill in.

I'm caught between a rock and a hard place as I'd really like to be there next Saturday to welcome Cindy. However, graduation REALLY takes first place.

Thanks for the update on Emma. I have been worried about her.

Sorry that you had to be a meanie to get the pills down. I'm sure it was harder on you than on her.

Hope you and Emma enjoy your trip.

Hi Lonestar! Greetings from New Braunfels, TX. Saw you are a stitcher and fan of Redbird Designs, so I'm hoping you can help me. Desperately searching for the patterns and/or kits for the Texas Alphabet by Redbird Designs. I did the C-D and E-F, and now find out that Redbird has gone out of business, and I have not been able to find the rest of the patterns. I am doing these to make a quilt wall-hanging for my "just turned 3" son Grayson to help him learn his ABC's easier, and decorate his Texas-themed room. Praying you can help me.
